Biography

Da Hool is one of the defining figures of electronic music and is widely regarded as one of the key forces behind bringing the techno underground into the public spotlight during the early 1990s. As a pioneer of a new club and rave culture, he is considered a central catalyst of the electronic avant-garde and the techno generation whose influence continues to resonate today.

Under his alter ego DJ Hooligan, Frank Tomiczek quickly established himself as one of the most influential producers in European electronic music. He toured renowned clubs and raves across all continents, remixed numerous artists from the electronic scene and released productions under various pseudonyms. In 1996, he founded Hool-Productions as well as his own label B-Sides. Early tracks such as Rave Nation achieved high positions in the official European sales charts.

His international breakthrough came in 1997 with “Meet Her At The Love Parade”, which rapidly became a global hit and remains an acoustic manifesto of the rave era to this day. The track marked Da Hool’s worldwide success, led to performances at the world’s most important clubs and festivals, and went on to become a rave anthem for generations.

Despite his global success, Da Hool has always remained closely connected to club culture and continues to perform both on major international festival stages and in small, intimate clubs. As a remixer, he also set benchmarks: his remix of “The Funk Phenomena” topped the German Dance Charts for several weeks in 2003 and became one of the most played dance tracks of the year in the UK.

Throughout his career, Da Hool has released music on some of the world’s most influential labels, including Armada, Toolroom, Subliminal, Spinnin’, Kontor, Ministry of Sound, Sony Music, Warner, Universal and Black Hole Recordings.

Da Hool has performed at the world’s leading festivals, including Tomorrowland, Love Parade, Nature One, Mayday, Parookaville and Ruhr in Love. A long-standing institution at Parookaville, he will appear there for the eleventh consecutive time in 2026, without having missed a single edition.

In recent years, Da Hool has released numerous high-profile collaborations with international artists such as Tiësto, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Joel Corry, Stella Bossi, Maddix, Timmy Trumpet, W&W, Cassian, Yotto and others.
A major cultural milestone followed in 2024, when “Meet Her At The Love Parade” was featured as part of the musical opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris, broadcast live to a global audience of billions.
